Lambing Saturday
More babies were born today!
Flora delivered a nicely marked ram lamb.
He is sired by St. Jude's Auburn
out of Rockhaven Flora.
The little fella fell in the mud so he's still a bit dirty.
His momma is diligently cleaning him up though.
He has HUGE horn buds ~ 2 of them.
I love how he has white spots on his black ears.
Or does he have black spots on white ears?
It's so hard to tell with Jacobs!
Then Nanny Callie decided she could not be left out any longer. She's been caught nursing some of the other lambs. Bet that will change now that she has a little ewe of her own.
We can't tell if the ewe lamb will have her momma's pretty four horns or not. Have to wait and see.
We do know that Never Winter Haagen Dazs and St. Jude's Callie make a pretty combination.
After a few weeks of midnight checks,
we will happily sleep through the night tonight.
So glad these girls decided Saturday would be a good lambing day.
Feeling blessed that all the spring lambs are here & healthy.
Summer lambs will be here before we know it!

DeleteJacob Sheep have between 2 and 6 horns but usually they are 2 horned or 4 horned. It's one of the things that first peaked our interest in Jacobs. That and they are a heritage breed in need of conservation and of course their spots. You can read more about our flock by clicking on the S-Squared Sheep in the sidebar.

ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Your lambs are so cute. I see that mothering, "I'm only thinking of my babies right now" look, just like our does get when they've kidded; how precious! Do they make little maa-ing/rumbling sounds to their lambs? What a blessing!
