Rooster noodle soup

I have a love-hate relationship with my rooster.  Wait a minute, take the love out of that.  Maybe I love to hate him.  Yep, that's it.  He is pretty to watch strut around the yard but at this point in his juvenile life, he has no other redeeming qualities.  He's so mean to the girls and the crowing!  He is making his presence known morning, noon and night.  This morning, he woke me up at 6:00 and made himself horse.  When I went out to the coop to let them out, he glared at me as if to say, "I have been calling you for hours, woman!"  He was clearly perturbed.  I reminded him it was Saturday.  One of us needs to adjust to the farm.  I'm afraid I'm the one that is going to have to adjust though.  Either that, or we are going to have rooster noodle soup and soon!

  1. If he read your blog, he'd shape up in no time. LOL

  2. LOL, you've probably read about my rooster woes on my blog! I have a new guy now, but I suspect he's going to go the way of the last one...he's just too interested in where I am and what I'm doing, and I don't mean that in a good way. He keeps one eye on me all the time...and that's how my last rooster's aggression started. If it weren't for his excellent job of guarding the ladies when they free range, I'd send him off straight away!

  3. It's a good laugh I needed this morning. I grew up with a mostly hate relationship with the chickens on our farm. Therefore I do not raise chickens on the farm I now share with my husband. I buy my eggs from a neighbor and my freezer chicken from a niece who raised chickens each year to make money. Someone else can have all the fun.

So what do you think of that?
