Homemade dog treats

shaped like cowboys, of course!

They were really easy and fun to make.  Just like rolled out cookies only they smelled, well, different.  Not bad actually but not appetizing.  Some will go as gifts for a friend's pups.

The rest will be special Christmas Day treats for all the animals on the farm.  I think they will go over well with the horses because a visit out to the pasture after making them became a sniffing contest to see if I had anything.  And since the pigs like cookies, they should love these. Here's the recipe so you can make treats for your furry friends.

  2. Is it a good idea to give the pigs bacon grease? Otherwise I am sure all the others...especially puppies will love it!

  4. Carol,
Farm animals are not picky about what they eat. I remember trying to find the perfect chicken feed when I first got the chicks and being alarmed that some contained chicken by products, even feathers. Then they got old enough to have feathers and I found out why. Rarely do I find feathers except for long wing feathers in the yard because they eat them! So wierd but I guess it is normal.
Pigs are truly garbage disposals on short legs. They eat just about anything. We do feed our animals the best feeds but when the scraps go out they throw a party. Even when they are eating their own kind. It still doesn't seem quite right to us humans. I try not to think about it too much.
Thank you for offering me an award. That is so flattering! I'm glad you are enjoying the blog. However, I think I will keep mine award free and just let it be what it is. I'm so glad to have you around and especially enjoy your comments. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas centered around our Savior!

  5. What a great idea Kim! How thoughtful of you to not forget our furry friends on Christmas! I don't think I'll be able to get to these before Christmas, but I'm quite sure I will get to them soon. Gesso will be so happy. Thanks for sharing!
