Crocheting when it's cold

When it's cold outside, you will find me here.

There is nothing better to me than curling up in my cozy chair with a ball of yarn and a hook.  Well, maybe a Jane Austen movie is better, but this is a close second.

I crocheted several gifts for Christmas and love making things for others.  But when I found this yummy yarn, I decided it was all mine.  Brown and pink alpaca wool ~ and so soft!  I'm making it into a skinny scarf with alternating rows of double and single crochet.  Nothing fancy ~ keeping it simple.  It will match my new pink Carhart vest that my boys got for me.  I'm glad it is cold.  It's a good excuse to sit by the wood stove with yarn.

  2. That's such a pretty yarn that you're using for your project. I guess crocheting while watching a Jane Austen movie might be premium activity! I've knit many stitches with my favorite Jane Austen or Elizabeth Gaskill DVDs.Oh, hot tea is a nice addition:)

  5. I do love my pink Carhart. I'm wearing it in the "Welcome" photo with Bobbie but you can't see much of it. I was borrowing my boys' vests so I guess they thought they would fix that at Christmas. Nothing better than Carhart for a farm. Really cuts the cold Oklahoma "wind(when it)comes sweeping 'cross the plains".

  7. Sounds like the perfect relaxing day. I spent hours on your sons blog yesterday, who knew falconry could be so interesting. You have a wonderful son there and I was very impressed with his blog.

  8. Kept trying to comment last night and getting kicked out.
I have knit for others for Christmas, and I think it's my turn...put another log on the fire and I'll be over with my knittin'! Or we'll just do it in different places at the same time and smile about it.
    Happy crocheting! Yarn On, girl!

  11. Kim! I know! So glad to see the amazing witness you are being! Your family is beautiful and an inspiration. The homeschooling, gardening, simple life, family values and so on! I made your communion bread last night. So good and easy. Love this Idea!

  12. I love curling up at night with crocheting too. The basket of wool looks so inviting. We have a six month old chocolate lab, our first, and I have always had baskets of yarn projects about. Had being the operative. Last month she chewed two knitting needles and a half finished scarf.

Pink Carhatt! So cool. I have a pink and orange sherbert western down vest and fleece hoodie from Sheplers that I love, and I'm currently crocheting a colourful scarf for it. Way outside my colour comfort level, but sometimes you just have to do that.

So what do you think of that?
