Pancakes and biscuits from a box ~ Never again
Taking a huge step toward more domesticated farm living, I have forever given the Bisquik box the boot! I really didn't know making my own baking mix would be so easy. And taste so much better! Thanks to Chickens In The Road, I am fulfilling my homemade biscuit dreams. And all my boys love me for it.
5 cups all purpose flour (can replace part with whole wheat)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon of salt
That's it!
Now run on over to get the recipes to make yummy pancakes
and fluffy biscuits
Just this morning, I made the biscuits with half shortening and half butter. I have tried the recipe with just shortening and just butter. If you use just butter they have a wonderful taste but they aren't as fluffy (like the ones in the picture) The combination of fats made the best ones by far.
I plan to try out her muffin recipe and her Grandmother's Bread next.
Who knows, I may be making all my bread soon. Yeah, right!
Oh those biscuits look delish... :)
ReplyDeleteoh yum, now i want pancakes for breakfast! jill
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world of homemade. With lots of food allergies in our family, we make everything from scratch. Things really do taste better. Plus, you get to know exactly what goes into each recipe. Those biscuits look wonderful! Get the honey and butter!
ReplyDeleteI love Chickens in the Road! I'll have to try out her baking mix. I use her Grandmother bread recipe all the time. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day!
