Saturday Evening Post

A glimpse into the lives of the people who live in the Little Red Farmhouse. Sort of like eves dropping. It will be a quote or conversation. It may be funny. It may be sweet. Maybe a little sad. But it will always be true. We'll see if it resonates with you.

Picture this:  The wind is blowing 40 mph sustained with gusts up to 60.  My sweet husband takes off of work to finish planting our 21 trees.  Soooo, 19 trees done and I lean down to help move dirt into the hole and say "I'll put the dirt in the hole on this one."  A few seconds later, I stand to my feet and announce to the rest of my family "Someone else is going to have to do it, I'm getting dirt in my face."

I MAY WANT TO BE A FARM-GIRL BUT FIRST AND FOREMOST I'M A GIRL!

  1. Amen, sister! (That's why my hubby is outside taking care of the lawn-mowing in the wind while I stay inside on the computer - between batches of laundry.)

  3. Hard work - planting trees! I helped Warren do it one day and couldn't take it. It was a really cold windy day, too. When he was a young man, he established a pecan grove out by Cashion, planting and grafting several hundred trees. Hard to believe now, but he did. We kept it for years and they produced really nice pecans, but it was a great deal of work. He finally sold the grove. That kind of work is for a young man.
