Jumpin' jimminy

that's the biggest frog I've ever seen!
He doesn't look big here?
What about this pic?
This giant jumper was spotted in the pig pen last night.
He was happily hanging out in the muck until the pigs spotted him.
Then the chase was on.  Yes, I know that pig pen is, well, a pig pen!  Why any creature would go in there I have no idea!

We finally rescued the big guy, gave him bath, and took him to the pond but not until we measured him.  Take a look at that!
14 inches!  That's a big frog!

  2. Wow! That is *huge*! He may be big, but he's a very lucky frog....to have got out of the pig sty in one piece - there aint many creatures could have managed that!

  5. Did you say frog legs for dinner? I don't know how anyone could eat them. He is one lucky frog to be rescued by you. I figured he had to be a boy to be that big, hee-hee!! Hugs!

  7. Off post question, but not sure where else to ask... did you ever build a compost? I'd love to know more about it...

  8. nope, no compost yet. Scrap food goes to the pigs or chickens unless it's meat. They're all vegetarians for food safety issues. We scatter the manure in the pastures from the livestock. The chicken droppings and pine shavings we throw away. (I know we need to compost that) The only other thing we have had to get rid of is soiled hay and the pigs think that is great fun to have thrown in their pen. It disappears into the muck in a few days.

  13. I've heard of pigs eating anything that goes in their pen including chickens. Thank goodness we haven't experienced this first hand.
