Sheep & The Shepherd
Easter ~
It seems an appropriate time to share some thoughts we have about
Sheep & The Shepherd.
There are verses throughout the Bible referring to people being "like sheep".
As new shepherds, we have a fresh perspective of that.
Sheep are flighty ~
When something triggers stress they panic and run when often what is best is to stand still and let the shepherd take care of things.
Sheep run from their shepherd ~
They run from the one that loves them, feeds them and makes sure they are protected from the predators of the world.
Sheep follow other sheep~
They run as a pack letting others influence them even if they know better.
Sheep wander away~
If not contained within a safe boundary, pretty soon they will be lost.
Yes, we are like sheep.
At least I am.
But what a comfort to know that nearby is
The Shepherd.
He's only a prayer away.
He welcomes us,
Loves us,
Meets our needs,
Wipes away our sin & shame
if only we trust Him.
He is the ultimate Shepherd!
Isaiah 53:6
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
John 1:29
Look, the Lamb of God,
who takes away the sin of the world!
Happy Easter

ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you and yours!
I love the coloring of your sheep. Our new sheep are precious, but they lack that stylish coat. Do you think the farmer would notice if his dear wife went after them with a wee bit of spray paint? ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said. Happy Easter to you.
