Tornado Alley

One little red farmhouse for sale.
Will trade for a little farmhouse of another color
not located in Tornado Alley!

Just kidding.
But seriously,
we've had enough tornados for one season.
And yes, we are safe and sound.
Please pray for those who are not.

  2. I have a question, don't people have storm shelters back there? If not, is it the cost or the ground! I thought that I read something once about the ground being to sandy or something to build shelters!

    1. Basements are not common here but it's needed to get underground when there is a large tornado. Storm shelters are fairly common. Ours is located between the two houses, completely underground and made of solid concrete. Tonight we had 12 people, 3 large dogs, and a cat in there for over an hour. It's cozy but not cramped.

  5. there should be special shelters for the pigs, and the cows, and the chickens, and the sheep. Ah, dont forget horses. I wonder how difficult that would be, getting all the farm animals underground..

  7. Kim glad to know everything is ok up your way. I was worried about you guys. Last night was the craziest storm I've ever seen. Most super cells track northeast and this one was so strong it was going southeast. We had 10 people in our basement. The wall cloud that started in Minco came right over us. SCARIEST cloud I've ever seen. So good to see calm skies and sunshine today.

  9. I grew up in Tornado Alley in central Illinois. It was not at all unusual to experience several every year. So often I was in tears because my grandpa always waited until the last minutes to join us in the basement. Like most old farmers, he always said, "If it's my time, it's my time."
Where I live now, we rarely have tornadoes, but we do have plenty of smoke from forest fires.
Yes, we are definitely praying for all those at risk and those who have suffered losses.
