Good bye city life! Our family designed and built an industrial but old fashioned farmhouse on nine acres. Now we are building our homestead ~ or is it building us? Grab your boots and join us on our journey to country living.

Brownie and the Banties

A visitor to the farm left these little chickens with us.

They are small Bantams but I don't know what kind.
I was hoping that they were a rooster/hen pair
but friends at Backyard Chickens say they are both roos. :(

I don't know if they will be permanent residents
because the laying hens don't care for them.
However,
Brownie and I are loving them for now.

She is watching over them like a mother hen.
It's too cute!

Accept one another, then,
just as Christ accepted you,
in order to bring praise to God.

Red Farmhouse Fiber Store

It's open...
I just love the logo.
{thanks, honey, for having it done for me.}

At Red Farmhouse Fibers, I will be selling roving, handspun yarn (when I don't use it up), raw fleeces, pelts, and horn buttons.

Twinkle, Callie, and Daylily are showing off there stuff there now.
And more listings will be added soon.

Check it out!

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

Galvanized Flower Buckets

I love using galvanized buckets for flowers.
They look so farmish! {Is that a word? Yes, I think so.}

This is my favorite pair this year.
Angelonia, periwinkles, and moneywort
next to a  worn out chicken waterer filled with succulents.

A few on the front porch cozy up our morning coffee spot.  Even plain ol' sweet potato vine looks great cascading out of a galvanized bucket.

This has proven to be a great use for a bucket too.

In God's love and mercy He redeemed them;
He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
Isaiah 63:9

Seven Skeins So Far

 I've been spinning Garfunkel's fiber.
So far, I've completed seven skeins.

It's so soft and silky!

There's still more on the wheel
and plenty of roving left in the basket.
Hopefully it will make another seven skeins.

A happy heart makes the face cheerful.

Bareback English Style

Posting without irons
& loping bareback~
The boy has found his seat.

It's come with a lot of
dedication
& hard work ~
every morning all summer.

His smile says it's been worth it.
