Horse Trial

We have been looking for a show jumping horse for Jonah for a while.  D, our little paint, has done a great job learning to jump but she is just not tall enough for his six foot stature.

Finding the right combination of experience, age, athleticism, personality, and price is not easy.  We searched all over the US and then we found this guy only 30 minutes away.

After riding him twice, we decided a month trial would be in order.  When buying a horse, it is always a good idea so you can see how they travel, adjust to a new environment, and work with their rider, as well as having a thorough vet check done.

So here he is ~ Alencino aka Rock It.
This chestnut gelding is 13 years old and has lots of jumping experience.  He is an off the track Thoroughbred (former race horse) who got a second chance as a jumper.
Standing at 17 hands high, he is a full foot taller than D.

He is a quiet and well mannered boy who knows his job. Rock It should be able to take J2 into the show ring this spring.

You can see in the picture above he is a much better fit for Jonah. They are getting along great and seem to like each other a lot.  If the trial goes well (and we think it will), Rock It will be Jonah's new jumper.

Oh Lord, since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
Psalm 31:3
