Blended Yarn

Blending two types of fiber into hand spun yarn has been on my spinning bucket list for a while.  I hate to admit that this yarn was started months ago.  It has been waiting patiently on my wheel.  The last few days, however, I got the wheel turning again and finished my first blended skein.

For the base fiber, I used some solid white Jacob roving from our sheep.  To that, I added little bits of alpaca from our two guys, Simon & Garfunkel.  Simon's fiber is silky silver and Garfunkel's is buttery beige.

One single was solid white while the other was the blend.  I didn't want the two colors to twist together when I plied the yarn.  That's why I did it that way.

I really like how it turned out ~
Heathered creamy white
flecked with natural colors of gray and beige
and all from the animals in our pasture.

Now to figure out what to crochet with it.

Psalm 147:16
He gives snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes.

  5. Hi Kim, oh that yarn is gorgeous. I do not knit or crochet... I mean, I do. But I have taught myself from Youtube and I can knit a scarf and crochet dish cloths and pot holders! So I do not really know how. But, OH how badly do I want to learn. I always love reading about your yarns and looking at the pictures. It's so gorgeous. - Dori -

    1. Thank you for the compliments, Dori! As good at sewing as you are, I have no doubt that you can crochet anything you want. Besides, what is better than a scarf or a simple hat?
