Spring has Sprung

The 700 spring bulbs we planted
last fall are
blooming in all their glory
just in time for Easter.

Scattered all over the farm

under the trees and in the flower beds,
they are everywhere we look.

The daffodils are my favorite.
They are so bright and cheery.

The bright blue ajuga and pink hyacinths
look so pretty standing with the yellow trumpets.

They are announcing that
 spring has sprung.

"Tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes!"
William Wordsworth

  2. Kim,

Oh my goodness!!!!! I want to be there! :-) We are finally to the landscape stage on our home (WHY has it taken so long????) and I'm anxious to plant bulbs this Fall. But pretty sure it won't be 700! What are all the varieties that you planted?

P.S. I've been anxiously awaiting these pictures! :-)

    1. We planted Red Impression Giant Darwin Tulips, Trumpet Daffodils Narcissus Marieke, Hyacinthus Orientalis Delft Blue & Fondant (Pink). Those are the varieties that we planted. We purchased them in bulk from John Scheepers. 700 sounds like a lot and it is but they are spread out over the 9 acre farm so there is just a little touch of spring everywhere we look. So glad we decided to plant them. I had been wanting too for years! Hope you are able to do your landscaping this year. Just love your farmhouse!

  4. I am envious. We still have snow. One year I planted about 200 bulbs one year. It was an amazing spring. Yours are fabulous! What a beautiful display.

  7. Just stunning! Every fall I feel like I have lost my planting mojo and put off planting bulbs, and every Spring I regret it! Maybe some day I'll get my fall planting mojo back :)
