Anyone up for a guessing game?

Old McDonald had a ....  yep, there's another breed of animal coming to the Rockin' S-Squared on Sunday and I want you to guess what it is?  Why, you may ask?  Well, I thought it'd be fun for all my great followers to guess what the next farm animal is.  Okay, so "what's in it for me" you might ask.  I'm giving away three, tres, trois, crocheted dish rags.  Made with my very own little fingers.

Of course there are rules.  Without rules civilization is chaos and we can't have that on my blog, soooo:

Rule 1)  You may only guess once (not once a day, Holly)
Rule 2)  You must be specific, including breed.  (No generalized answers)
Rule 3)  Male or female?  Not you, the animal(s).
Rule 4)  The first to guess exactly will win.  If no one guesses the first closest guess will win.
Rule 5)  There's a little extra in it for you if you can tell me why this animal and how many are coming.
Rule 6)  Lastly, if I have told you already, you can't play but if you ask me nicely, I might make some for you anyway.

No purchase necessary. If you are 13 years or older and are a legal resident of any of the 50 United States and District of Columbia, Canada (void in Quebec), and have access to a personal computer with Internet access, you are eligible to compete for prizes. If you are an employee or an immediate friend or family member of an employee of Rockin S-Squared Farm (defined here as parents, siblings, spouse, or household members), their subsidiaries and affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, or you are in some way working on this program or providing services to Rockin S-Squared Farm in connection with this Sweepstakes, you are not eligible to enter. The Sweepstakes is void where taxed, restricted or prohibited by law.

Did you notice the fine print?  I found this disclaimer and put my farm name in it (because all games need a good disclaimer, kind of like prescription drugs) and thought it was funny.  I don't know what they have against Quebec.  If you live in Quebec please feel free to play.

Get to guessing, girls!

  1. Me thinkth a doe goat to milk. ???? Breed? Yikes. There are lots of those out there. Since we used to have Nubians and I'm partial to the breed, I will say that. I'm looking forward to finding out the right answer.

  2. Well, I was originally going to guess a milk doe as well, but I think I will go with my favorite animal. Sheep! I think since you've gotten steers and hogs, you'll want to show some club lambs. I'm guessing you're going to get a couple (2-4) of Suffolk ewes, bred.

Eek, there's another animal that might also fit in at your place...but we can only guess once!! :-(

And we have to wait until Sunday?! That's practically a lifetime! :-)

  3. What fun! I am guessing three little American Alpine dairy goats. I had to google dairy goats to learn the name of a breed to guess.

  4. Oh shoot, I was going to guess 2-3 female Nubian goats as well, but because that was already chosen and my other guess was llamas, as guardians and companions to your farm, (though you'll have to forgive me, I'm a new follower and don't know what all you have currently...) My official guess is 2 male but gelded llamas. I don't think llamas have a breed, just a fiber type, but I don't think they will be the suri (dread lock looking) kind, as they are still fairly rare - here at least maybe not where you are. Looking forward to hearing!

  5. A jenny and a jack, small sicilian donkeys... as guard animals... I don't know why I try, I NEVER win. But I know "I" would love to have some little donkeys milling about so...

  6. I'm gonna guess a female Angora goat???

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ooops! I just saw Rule #5 and want to add that I think you are getting approximately six Angora female goats so that you can spin your own yarn from their fleece:)

  8. My guess is 2 adorable goats...one male and one female...don't know what breed??

  9. My guess is sheep. Why, because you like needlework and maybe plan to spin your own wool??? A male and maybe 4 females? Or just 4 females if you plan AI. Total guess here. My answer was partly inspired by our trip to the Farm Machinery Show yesterday, and our 14 year old son's purchase of Storey's Guide to Raising Sheep. He already has Storey's meat goat, dairy goat, rabbit, and beef.

  10. This is fun! Yes, Elizabeth, Storey's Guides to Raising (Whatever) are great! In fact, I have another one on my shopping list to prepare for _______ coming home.

  11. I was thinking Alpine Dairy Goat. A male and female and a baby. I was thinking a dairy goat so you can make your own cheese/milk/yogurt and such and so you don't have to mow your grass much this summer!

  12. Well..I don't live in Quebec or USA so may not be eligible..but I am going to give it a guess...just for fun! It is obviously some animal that doesn't mind the cold...so I would say an Alpaca...can't tell you the breed though. Beautiful wool...lovely nature and lives in Peru..so that gets cold..lots of good qualities.

  13. I didn't mean to leave you out! Any of my friends in any country can play. I was just making fun of disclaimers. Here in the US it seems everything has a disclaimer.
    Guess away!

  14. What a fun contest! I think you might end up adding some more animals to your 'wish list' as a result. Well, Evan and I pooled our farm animal knowledge. Which was a very small pool, I will admit. And we think you are getting 3 Bactrian Camels. 2 males and 1 female. Fingers crossed!

p.s. Don't worry about me entering more than once--I've exhausted my ideas already :)

  15. Wow, Holly! What a great guess. We haven't applied yet for our exotic animal license so hopefully the Bactrian Camels don't come to visit on Sunday. Don't get me wrong, they were under consideration but since they're on the endangered species list we weren't sure the government would let us keep them on our farm. On our last visit to the deserts of Central Asia we spent alot of quality time with bactrian camels. Sweet as they might be I can only say good try. Maybe next contest.

  16. Oh what a fun giveaway. I am a new follower as well and not sure of the animals you currently have. So my guess is a male and female miniture donkey. They are stinkin' cute! Blessings, Stacy

  17. I was thinking a miniature donkey too, but I'm not sure what they're good for. I vote baby goats!! No idea on the breed, so I'm out of the contest. lol Baby goats are so darn cute!

  18. Oh what fun Kim...I am going to guess a jack miniature sicilian donkey to be a companion for your horses?? Can’t wait to find out--I know whatever it is it will be fun. Hmm--I just thought cow--ok, sticking with donkey. Love the fine print :)

So what do you think of that?
