Jar Soap Dispenser

I first saw these cute soap dispensers at Pottery Barn and wanted some.  Then I ran across a tutorial on how to make your own on Julia's adorable blog, Blissfully Content.  She has the cutest ideas!

I searched for zinc lids online and then decided maybe I should use what I had.  Truth is, I'm impatient!  So I used new jars and white plastic freezer jar lids.

I really like how they turned out.

And then my sis~in~law brought me another soap pump!
{Thanks, Scharlee!} And so I made one out of a really big old Atlas jar for my kitchen sink.

I love jars!

  2. I've always wanted them too and like you couldn't find the solid zinc lids, just the glass and ring kind. I'm going to have to try this.

  3. I loved seeing these! I've had mine for ages, and they're such a nice fit in a country home. Don't fret about looking for zinc lids though...they do look great, but (as I found out) after awhile they begin to corrode. Yours look terrific!

  12. I read the tutorial, but I was wondering how you put the hole in the plastic lid?

  13. Elizabeth,
I tapped a very small screwdriver through the center (a larger one will bust the lid) and then used small wire cutters to cut out a circle just big enough for the pump to fit through.
    It was easy!

So what do you think of that?
