Animals Love Animal Crackers

Our sheep have been spoiled with animal cracker treats for a long time.
We shake the cup and they come running.

It's helpful when you need to catch them and they don't want to be caught. It's fun to treat them too.
Visitors on the farm especially enjoy it.

Recently, I decided to train the calves to come for animal cracker treats too.

They caught on really fast!

George Morris Clinic

Jonah had an amazing opportunity this past weekend.  He was on a waiting list for the George Morris clinic in Dallas and at the last minute someone cancelled.  Quickly packing up the trailer, we headed to Texas for four days. If you have had anything to do with English equestrian sports for the last four or five decades, you know who George Morris is.  For those of you who don't know, he is the man, I mean THE MAN.  No one would argue that.

He has the reputation of being tough maybe even mean. I found him honest, straight forward, impatient with lack of effort, and absolutely right on every single time.  I also found him to be a gentleman, a sweet old man, and a trainer that could bring out the very best in every horse and rider in the ring.  His clinics are not for the weak at heart!

The riders rode (and I do mean rode) for two hours straight each day.  It was physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging.  And worth every bit of effort.

And boy, could George Morris ride.  H…

The Punk & the Pompadour

It was "Dress the Decades Day"  at our homeschool co-op. What fun!  My guys went all out.

In true radical style, Jared ditched his preppy clothes and embraced the 80s to the max.

Tubular, dude! Several of the moms said he looked like he stepped right out of the Breakfast Club.  He was stoked.

Jonah rolled up the cuffs and flashed farther back to the 50s.

Digging it, Daddy-o!

This Cat was definitely not square.
And me? Well after doing those two "dos" I was lucky to get there on time. It was a CRAY day.   (that's crazy, in case you didn't know)
I can't think of a Bible verse that goes with these two rebels.  Come to think of it, it may be against the rules to put scripture in the same post as stoked. ;)

Crocheted Saddle Oxfords

Preppy is back and these Little Sport Saddle Oxfords are just too cute. I just had to make them for a niece about to have a sweet baby boy.

Of course,  I had to make the matching hat.

I just love the patterns from Lovely Crow on Etsy. These can be special ordered too.   More info in the sidebar.   Same price as the cowboy boots.

Weekends Full of Running and Riding

The last month has been super busy with lots of cross country meets  and horse shows for our boys. We have literally gotten up before 6 am every Saturday for 8 weeks. It's been so fun to watch them run and ride. Completely worth it! We are ready for some restful weekends on the farm though.

Jared is an awesome runner and enjoying every minute of it.

He's covering miles of road and turf every week and his times have gotten better through the season.

I love how he always finishes with flair. So dramatic.  So Jared.

Jonah and Riviera are riding great together.

They have the flying lead change down and are tackling tighter turns over the jumps.

Their partnership is always exciting & fun to watch.

Jake has switched colleges so that means he switched equestrian teams too. This show was hosted by his old team which he now competes against.

In collegiate equestrian competitions like this, the rider's horse is picked by random draw.  They are not allowed to put their leg on o…
