Flowers in feed buckets
chicken in a bucket |
You may have seen my galvanized feed bucket flower pots before. They are scattered around the farmhouse outside. I love picking just the right flowers for each bucket.
gravel path to front door |
A few weeks ago, I hung one of our red feed buckets on the goat fence and left it there. Later I looked out the window and realized that those would look really cute filled with flowers.
flowers for the girls |
Since we have some new animal feeders on the farm (thanks to my hubby), I decided to repurpose these. I had to by a few more though.
round pen gate |
11 in all and all in red.
Hanging on the fences filled with pink and white zinnias and sweet smelling alyssum.
I think they will be lovely when they fill out and cascade over the sides.
We drilled small holes in the bottom for drainage and picked flowers that were non toxic to the farm animals just to be safe.
I didn't bother to take the stickers off. They just add to the farm theme, I think.
pink watering can worth a million with million bells in pink |

ReplyDeleteEverythings looking so nice loove the flowers in feedbuckets!
ReplyDeleteI hope the flowers are out of the reach of the livestock..esp. those nimble footed goats or the horses with long necks..lol! They all look beautiful and so summery.
ReplyDeleteVery cute and I LOVE that chicken!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I love it! I also like the pop of color the buckets give to the white fences!
ReplyDelete(I'm also coveting your pink watering can... love it too!)
I love the idea of the metal buckets for flowers! Those feed bins on the fence are really cute too... and I agree with leaving on the labels! Everything looks fabulous!

Oh, my, you are so clever and artistic. What a fabulous idea! I love the hanging feed buckets!
ReplyDeleteOur house came with a planter on one exterior wall. I can't wait to plant it. Maybe this week.... although we still usually have to wait until June to plant our gardens.
I think that's such a creative (and pretty!) way to display flowers!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I love them. They are PERFECT for your farm. My fingers are crossed that this week it will be warm enough to pot some flowers at our house!
ReplyDeleteGood ideas here..I have always loved flowers planted like this, reminds me of my grandma's place. :D
ReplyDeleteLooks cool! I just keep worrying what animal might get into them. You must be confident they will be out of reach. I like that you left the stickers on.
ReplyDeleteCUTE IDEA!
ReplyDeleteGreat theme and very creative ideas. I would never have thought about the hanginb feeders. Really though the goats don't eat the plants?
ReplyDeleteIt is a great look, Kim. I hope the summer sun is kind to them. <3
ReplyDeleteWe spent lots of time picking flowers that would not poison any of the animals and be good in direct sun. This was quite a task. Did you know most flowers are toxic? The zinnias & alyssum should be fine. The buckets are also hanging up on the five foot fence so the goats won't be able to get to them. Cowboy was a little confused when we fed him yesterday. He couldn't figure out who put flowers in his feed bucket! He stuck his nose in the dirt but didn't try to munch them.
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your blog and I love it! Although I live in the suberbs of Minnesota, I greatly desire to live on a farm on day! I love all the creativity and encouragement you have for living in your farm. So beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time here and following now....what a gorgeous place you have! Just love all the flowers in your lovely containers:) Can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, I love repurposing items as planters and the red bins look wonderful!
